ByteDance, the parent company of TikTok, is collaborating with U.S. chip designer Broadcom to develop an advanced AI processor.

This initiative aims to ensure a reliable supply of high-end chips amid ongoing U.S.-China tensions and stringent export controls.

The 5-nanometer application-specific integrated circuit (ASIC) processor will comply with U.S. export restrictions. Manufacturing will be handled by Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC), although production is not expected to commence this year as the design phase is still ongoing​.

Apple is in discussions with Meta, Anthropic, and Perplexity to integrate their generative AI models into Apple's newly announced AI system, "Apple Intelligence," which is set to enhance the capabilities of iPhones and other Apple devices.

This move follows Apple's unveiling of its AI strategy, which aims to incorporate advanced AI technologies across its product suite, including Siri.

Meta's generative AI model, Anthropic's Claude 3.5 model, and Perplexity's AI technology are among the key focuses of these talks.

Apple is exploring AI partnerships globally. It focuses on integrating technology across apps and ensuring privacy for users.

Meta has encountered an issue where it is mistakenly labeling genuine photos as "Made with AI" on its platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, and Threads.

This mislabeling is part of Meta's effort to combat the spread of AI-generated content without proper disclosure.

Photographers have expressed frustration over this, noting that simple edits should not trigger the "Made with AI" label.

Former White House photographer Pete Souza mentioned that changes in Adobe's photo editing tools might be causing these false tags.

Meta acknowledges the problem and states that it is working to refine its algorithm to better distinguish between AI-generated and manually edited photos​.
