Peterborough City Hospital began the trial of a new AI software for breast cancer diagnostics , developed by Ibex Medical Analytics and funded by the National Institute for Health and Care Research. The AI tool aims to enhance the accuracy and efficiency of breast cancer diagnostics by analysing tissue samples to support pathologists.

With input from over 100 global pathologists, the software has proven highly accurate, reducing repeat biopsies and saving time. Initially a backup, the AI will eventually pre-read biopsy slides to highlight issues. The Trust successfully used a similar AI tool for prostate cancer. Dr.David Bailey noted that digital pathology improvements benefit both patients and doctors, and the AI tool's tirelessness enhances patient care.

The ARTICULATE PRO trial by the University of Oxford and Paige is taking place at three hospitals in England to improve prostate cancer detection using AI. Experts believe AI can speed up, standardize, and enhance cancer detection. Funded by the AAC Artificial Intelligence in Health and Care Award, the trial could boost AI use in cancer diagnosis if successful.
